Hampton University sophomore defensive end Miles Grooms was named HU Athlete of the Week for his performance this past weekend on the gridiron.

Grooms (Richmond, Va.) had nine tackles in Saturday’s 30-7 win over Delaware State, including a team-high 3.5 sacks. His 3.5 tackles for loss totaled 30 yards, and five of Grooms’ tackles on Saturday were solo efforts.

Grooms was a big part of a Pirates defense that held Delaware State to just 42 rushing yards.
