Hampton University sophomore guard Deron Powers was named HU Athlete of the Week for his performance on the hardwood this past week.

Powers (Williamsburg, Va.) averaged 21.0 points and 4.0 assists in two games for the Pirates this past week, going a combined 14-for-27 (.519) from the floor going 4-for-8 from behind the arc and hitting all 10 of his free throws.

He had a career-high 29 points in Sunday’s loss at Missouri State, going 10-for-15 from the floor and 4-for-6 from 3-point range. He also had 13 points and five assists at Quinnipiac on Wednesday.
