Hampton University freshman guard Malia Tate-DeFreitas was named HU Athlete of the Week for her performance on the hardwood this past week.

Tate-DeFreitas (Harrisburg, Pa.) averaged 24.0 points and 6.0 rebounds in two games for the Lady Pirates this past week, going a combined 15-for-41 (.366) from the floor and hitting seven of her 19 3-pointers and 11 of 12 free throws.

She had a career-high 29 points on 9-for-19 shooting in Saturday’s 72-63 win at Texas State, and she had 19 points, seven rebounds, and three assists this past Wednesday at LSU.
