Hampton University freshman Jerrick Powell was named HU Athlete of the Week for his performance in track & field this past weekend.

Powell had a hand in winning two events this past weekend at the Hampton Relays. He won the javelin with a season-best mark of 52.65 meters (172 feet, nine inches), and he was also on the 4x200-meter relay squad that took gold with a 1:27.49.

Powell ran the second leg of that relay race.
