PIRATES LOOK TO BOUNCE BACK AT ROBERT MORRIS

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The Hampton University men's basketball team will look to snap its losing skid on Tuesday, as the Pirates square off against Robert Morris at the Charles L. Sewall Center at 7 p.m.

The Pirates (4-7), in their third season under head coach Edward Joyner Jr., lost their third straight game on Saturday, falling 74-65 at Liberty despite a career-high 20 points and nine rebounds from sophomore center David Bruce (Linden, N.J.) and a 14-point effort from senior guard Mike Tuitt (Bronx, N.Y.).

The Colonials (8-3) won their fourth game in five tries on Saturday, beating Louisiana-Lafayette 72-64 at the Charles L. Sewall Center. Redshirt-junior guard Velton Jones led Robert Morris with 16 points, while sophomore forward Mike McFadden added 13 points and freshman guard/forward Lucky Jones chipped in 12 points. Redshirt-sophomore guard Coron Williams added 10 points for the Colonials.

Robert Morris went 18-14 last season, finishing third in the Northeast Conference with a mark of 12-6. The Flames, under second-year head coach Andrew Toole, return four starters and six letterwinners from last year's squad, and they were picked to finish second in the conference this season.

Three Colonials are averaging in double figures in scoring, led by Jones with 16.6 points per game. McFadden, on top of pulling down a team-high 6.0 rebounds per contest, is second in scoring with 13.0 points a night, while Williams is averaging 12.9 points a game.

Robert Morris is scoring 67.7 points per game, while giving up just 60.7 points per contest.

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Pirates and the Colonials.

The Pirates' contest against Robert Morris on Tuesday will mark just the fifth time Hampton has faced a team from the NEC; Hampton is 1-2 all-time against Monmouth – the two teams last met on Nov. 29, 2009, with the Pirates winning 59-56 – and 0-1 against Sacred Heart, having falling to Sacred Heart 78-71 on Nov. 22 in the Cancun Challenge.

The Pirates dropped their 2011-12 road opener on Nov. 17, falling 72-51 at Richmond before losing 66-52 at Rutgers on Nov. 20 and 54-53 to Fordham on Dec. 5, 74-72 to American on Dec. 7and 74-65 at Liberty on Saturday.
