BALTIMORE, Md. – The Hampton University men's basketball team will look for its third straight win on Monday, taking on the Eagles of Coppin State at the Physical Education Complex at 7:30 p.m.
It will be the fourth of five straight road games for the Pirates.
The Pirates (7-13, 4-3 MEAC), in their fourth season under head coach Edward Joyner Jr., won their second straight game at the buzzer on Saturday, beating Morgan State 64-62. Sophomore center

Deron Powers (Williamsburg, Va.) added 17 points and junior guard/forward
Du'Vaughn Maxwell (Manhattan, N.Y.) added 13 points and eight rebounds.
The Eagles (5-18, 2-6 MEAC) fell 80-70 to Norfolk State on Saturday, despite a game-high 24 points from junior guard Andre Armstrong and 12 points from freshman guard Patrick Cole.
The Eagles went 14-16 last season, going 9-7 in the MEAC before falling in the first round of the MEAC Tournament to Florida A&M. Coppin State, in its 27th season under head coach Ron “Fang” Mitchell, lost all five starters from last season and was picked to finish 10th in the MEAC this season.
Junior forward Michael Murray leads the team in scoring with 12.2 points per game to go along with a team-high 8.9 rebounds per contest. Troy Franklin is averaging 11.8 points per game, while Cole is averaging 11.5 points a contest. Armstrong is averaging 10.8 points per game.
The Eagles are averaging 64.6 points a game on offense, while giving up 72.4 points a night.
Since moving up to the Div. I level in 1995, the Pirates are 14-16 against Coppin State, and the Eagles won this season's earlier meeting, a 67-65 overtime decision in Hampton, Va. on Jan. 21. Hampton beat Coppin State during the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons, but overall, the Eagles have won seven of the last nine meetings.
Hampton is 6-7 against Coppin State on the road.
Hampton is 203-122 all-time as a Div. I program (since 1995) against teams currently in the MEAC, including a 6-10 mark in the conference last season. So far this season, Hampton is 3-3 in MEAC play this season, with two of those wins coming against rival Howard. The Pirates have faced every team currently in the MEAC at least once, including newcomers North Carolina Central and Savannah State.
Since joining the MEAC in 1995, the Pirates have won two regular-season conference titles (2000-01, 2001-02) and four MEAC Tournament crowns (2001, 2002, 2006, 2011).
The Pirates went 1-13 on the road last season, with that lone win coming at Florida A&M, 74-59, on Feb. 25. For his career, Joyner is 18-34 on the road after Hampton's season-opening loss at William & Mary, a 68-58 loss at Richmond, a 75-67 loss at Ohio, a 61-60 loss at UNC Wilmington, a 73-64 loss at Radford, a 50-43 loss at Winthrop, and a 68-49 loss at USC Upstate.
Hampton's first road win of the season came on Jan. 12 in a 51-49 win over Howard, but the Pirates fell at Norfolk State 74-67 on Jan. 26 before beating South Carolina State 64-60 on Wednesday and beating Morgan State 64-62 at the buzzer on Saturday.
