HAMPTON, Va. – The Hampton University lacrosse team will close out its 2017 season on Saturday at noon when they host the Highlanders of New Jersey Institute of Technology at Armstrong Stadium.
Hampton enters the contest with a 1-6 record after falling 13-7 at St. Thomas Aquinas on April 8.
Kendall Sapp and
Darrel Kidd scored two goals apiece to lead the Pirates. Sapp and
Kier Johnson share the lead in goals scored with nine for Hampton.
The Highlanders are 0-12 after losing 12-11 at Lafayette College on Tuesday night. NJIT is paced by Aaron Forster with 28 goals and four assists, while Ryan Callaghan has had 15 goals and Ryan Darrow has added 11.
Both teams are evenly matched as Hampton has scored 6.7 goals per game, while NJIT has tallied 6.5. The Highlanders have allowed 13.5 goals per game, while Hampton has allowed 13.1. The teams have both played Wagner and VMI with Wagner scoring seven goal victories against each, while VMI defeated NJIT 9-8 and Hampton 14-1.
