HAMPTON, Va. (Mar 30, 2024) - The Hampton Pirates lacrosse team will have a home matchup with the Delaware Blue Hens on Saturday, March 30 at 12:00 p.m.
So Far This Season
Hampton is coming off of a 16-5 loss against the Drexel Dragons. Midfielder's
David Jackson and
Steele Downing scored their first goals of the season along with attacker
Andre Myers as well.
Miles Fawcett cashed in for his sixth score of the year along with
Darius Stanley scoring his 10th goal of the season as he continues to lead the team in goals. Defensemen
Zion Garcia and midfielder
Canyon Steverson both led the squad in ground balls recovered with four and face-off specialist
Trevor Tran won 3 of 4 face-offs.
The Pirates and Blue Hens have met once before last season in which the Pirates were defeated 19-1 in Newark.
Scouting Delaware Blue Hens
Head Coach Ben DeLuca is in his 7th season as head coach of the Blue Hens. Delaware is coming off of their second straight regular season and tournament title along with a 13-10 victory over Hofstra last Saturday.
The Blue Hens bring a well rounded squad to the contest. They have players who lead the conference in three different categories. Attackmen Mike Robinson ranks 1st in the conference and 7th in the country in goals per game averaging 3.14 and face off specialist OJ Morris currently ranks 1st in the conference and 7th in the country in face-off percentage (62.1%). Delaware also does a good job of stopping scores as Goalie Evan Kellington ranks 1st in the conference and 11th in the country in save percentage at 56.5% and 16th in the country in saves per game (12.43). Avoiding penalties will be important for the Pirates as the Blue Hens lead the conference in man-up goals percentage as well (52.6).
