HAMPTON, Va. (July 21, 2025) … The Intercollegiate Tennis Association announced its Scholar-Athlete and All-Academic team awards on Monday and nine Hampton student-athletes along with both teams were recognized.
On the men's side,
Benjamin Mwanza,
Kevin Jorquera,
Yanozie Amadike,
Aryan Arora and
Donte Armbrister were named Scholar-Athletes and the team was recognized as an All-Academic team.
In 2025, 994 Division I Men's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 159 men's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
For the women, Meri Okuwaki,
Masa Mitic,
Serena Bryan and
Sofia Sokolova were honored as Scholar-Athletes while the team earned All-Academic honors.
A whopping 1,462 Division I women's student-athletes were named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, and 222 women's tennis programs were awarded the All-Academic Team distinction.
To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements: a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale), all student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form and all varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.
To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements: have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.
