Considered one of the top all-around players to ever don the blue and white of Hampton, Darryl Warwick was a playmaker on the basketball court who did it all. He scored seemingly at will and he assisted his teammates in becoming some of the school’s top scorers of all-time as well.

He finished his career with 1,755 career points, averaging an impressive 15.1 points over his four-year college career. After averaging 10.4 points as a freshman in 1977-78, he simply got better with time. In 1978-79, as a sophomore, he netted 12.3 points per contest, followed by an average of 15.9 points his junior season. Warwick saved the best for last, posting an average of 21.9 points as a senior in 1980-81.

One thing is certain about Warwick, however, and that is that he wasn’t a one-dimensional performer. Not only did he score a lot of points, but he also helped others to score, finishing his career as Hampton’s all-time leader in assists with 722 in four seasons.  Warwick led the Pirates in assists for four consecutive seasons. Warwick’s senior season was capped by his selection as a first-team All-CIAA member in 1980-81.
