HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Hampton University men's basketball team had its two-game winning streak snapped on Monday, losing 74-67 to James Madison at the JMU Convocation Center.
Senior guard
Mike Tuitt (Bronx, N.Y.), the reigning MEAC Player of the Week, led the way with 15 points and five assists, while sophomore center
David Bruce (Linden, N.J.) added 14 points and 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.

Darrion Pellum (Hampton, Va.) poured in 12 points, while senior guard
Christopher Tolson (Laurel, Md.) added nine points and tied his career high with seven rebounds. Junior forward
Wesley Dunning (Washington, D.C.) scored a career-high eight points and tied his career high with six rebounds.
Hampton (6-10) took a 10-7 lead with 15:02 left in the first after Dunning scored on a put-back, and Hampton then took a 14-11 lead after a jumper from Bruce at the 14:01 mark.
The Pirates would lead by as much as nine in the first half, going up 24-15 with 11:08 left in the half after Tuitt hit a 3-pointer. Dunning hit a trey of his own with 6:56 left in the half to put Hampton up 31-24, but the Dukes bounced back.
James Madison scored 15 unanswered points, taking a 39-31 lead with 3:26 left in the half after Andrey Semenov hit a jumper. The Dukes ultimately closed the half on a 20-4 run, going up 44-35 with 1:08 left in the half after a 3-pointer by Humpty Hitchens.
The Dukes took that nine-point edge into the locker room, thanks to 13 first-half points from Hitchens and 11 from A.J. Davis. JMU shot 51.5 percent (17-for-33) in the first half, compared to 41.9 percent (13-for-31) shooting for the Pirates.
Pellum led Hampton with nine points at the break.
Hampton opened the second half on an 11-4 run to close within two, 48-46, with 16:09 to play after junior guard
Aaron Austin (Newport News, Va. ) sank a layup, and Hampton tied the game at 51-51 with 10:45 to play after Dunning made one of two free throws.
The Pirates then took a 54-53 lead with 10:00 to pay after a Tuitt 3-pointer.
James Madison scored seven straight points, taking a 60-54 lead with 8:37 left after Semenov hit a trey of his own, and the Dukes led by as many as 12, going up 69-57 with 5:01 to play after Hitchens hit a pair of free throws.
Hampton closed to within five, 70-65, with 1:19 to play after Bruce scored on a put-back, but JMU hit four of six free throws down the stretch to keep the Pirates at arm's length.
The Pirates shot 40.3 percent (25-for-62) from the floor, while making eight of their 24 3-pointers and nine of their 14 free throws (64.3 percent). Hampton scored 28 points in the paint, had 10 second-chance points and scored 18 points off 13 JMU turnovers.
The Dukes (8-7) shot 44.8 percent (26-for-58) from the floor, hitting seven of their 18 3-pointers and just 15 of their 24 free throws (62.5 percent). James Madison out-rebounded the Pirates 39-36 and scored 25 points off of 16 Hampton turnovers.
Davis led the Dukes with 21 points, while Semenov added 17 points and Hitchens poured in 15.
