Hampton Drops Match Against Campbell

Box Score BUIES CREEK, N.C. (Nov. 5, 2023) ... The Lady Pirates fell to the Campbell Camels in straight sets on Sunday afternoon. It ended 10-25, 21-25 and 15-25.

Kristine Teivane led the Lady Pirates in kills during the match with six. Madison Clark had five and Rickelle Wescott four. Kalyn Pierre posted the most assists (nine), followed by teammate Nadja Bulatovic with six. Hampton tallied four aces on the day, two by Teivane and one from Clark and Bulatovic.

Clark notched 11 digs for the Lady Pirates, while Kylah Hunter had seven and Teivane five. Maria Eduarda Rodrigues notched three blocks and Tyller Williams and Wescott had two each.

How It Happened

Set 1

The Campbell Camels got off to a quick start in set 1, jumping out to a 7-3 lead. The Lady Pirates were unable to string multiple points together until it was too late and the set ended 10-25. Clark recorded nine digs in the set.

Set 2

Hampton started the second with a four-point aided by a kill by Clark and an ace by Teivane (4-1). A few points later, Campbell responded with six straight points of their own to go ahead by six (13-7). The Lady Pirates brought the lead down to two after earning six out of eight points (18-20). Points went back and forth the rest of the way and it ended 21-25 in Campbell's favor. Three Lady Pirates had multiple kills in the set.

Set 3

Campbell looked to put the match away in the third with yet another fast start (7-2). The Lady Pirates refused to give up and found themselves only trailing by one at 7-8. The Camels had other plans and built their lead up to eight at 15-7. Hampton grabbed eight more points in the set but Campbell finished it 25-15. Five players recorded a dig in the set.
