Hampton, Va. (Sept 13, 2023) The Lady Pirates are opening conference play against the Towson Tigers in their first home games of the season.

The Lady Pirates are coming off hard fought losses against Quinnipiac (4-5) and Gardner-Webb (3-5). In those matches, Maria Eduerda Rodrigues leads Hampton in kills with seven while Cortni Adams has six. Kylah Hunter dominated in the setting department recording all but two assists (21 of 23). Rickelle Wescott tallied four aces.
 
On the defensive side, Tyller Williams led the Lady Pirates in digs with eight and Kalyn Pierre and Cortni Adams had seven. Rickelle Wescott recorded a perfect receiving percentage (1.000) and tallied three blocks.

Head coach Don Metil is leading in his tenth season. He is the winningest coach in school history and has led them to four straight CAA Championships and NCAA Tournament Births.
 
Irbe Lazda leads the team in kills with 122. Teammate Nina Cajic follows closely with 109 kills (2.64). Sarah Jordan is the main setter, with 232 assists. Defensively, they are led by Logan Shepherd with 123 digs and Aayinde Smith with 43 blocks.
 
Towson leads the series 3-0 and defeated Hampton most recently on Sept. 18th, 2022.
