Hampton Volleyball Returns Home to Holland Hall Facing Elon

HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 1, 2024) … The Lady Pirates volleyball team returns home to the Convocation Center for two matches against Elon. The first match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 3, and the series ends on Friday, Oct. 4, at 3:00 p.m. Both of this week's matches will be streamed on FloSports. 

In its last time out, Hampton fell to the Hofstra Pride by a score of 3-0 in both matches. In game two, the Lady Pirates were close to taking sets two and three. During the second set, HU trailed by eight points at the 15-8 mark. Coach Ronaldo Pacheco squad brought it back to with four points. With Hofstra scoring six of the final 10 points, the Pride won the set. In third frame, there were a total of four lead changes and the set was tied on eight separate occasions. While Hampton had the same amount of kills (15) the Lady Pirates committed three more errors than the Pride. Madison Clark led the team in kills with six both times out. In the second math against the Pride freshman Brooklynn Patterson also tallied six kills. 

So far this season senior, Clark leads the team in kills with 64. The Hampton, Va. native, has finished three matches with double-digit kills. Ada Bulgur is close behind with tallying 62. On the defensive side, Kylah Hunter has produced a team-high 130 digs. Senior Cortni Adams also has shined on defensive end tallying 25 blocks. 

Elon is coached by Mary Tendler who is in her 22nd season with the Phoenix. EU has already improved from last seasons record by winning eight matches this season. The Phoenix have started conference play 2-2 winning the series against UNCW on the road. Coach Tendler is 6-1 against the Lady Pirates all time. 

The Phoenix are one of the better offensive teams in the conference. EU currently ranks fourth in the conference for hitting percentage and is second for assists with 640. Elon has also tallied 89 service aces which is the 62nd most at the Division I level. Annabelle Schall is averaging 0.42 aces per set ranking in fourth in the CAA. Schall's 23 aces is second most in the conference and ranks 41st in the country.
