HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 11, 2024) … Hampton University volleyball team will travel to Wilmington, N.C. for two matches against UNCW. The first match is set to begin at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, and the series ends on Sunday, Oct. 13, at 2:00 p.m. Both of this weekend's matches will be streamed on FloSports.
In the last conference series, Hampton fell to the Elon Phoenix by a score of 3-0 in both matches. Madison Clark has been a powerful force for the Hampton Pirates volleyball team. In the last two matches, she totaled 18 kills as well as five aces. Clark leads the squad in kills with her powerful offensive play. In the second match, freshman Brooklyn Patterson had five kills.
So far this season senior, Madison Clark leads the team in kills with 64. The Hampton, Va. native, has finished four matches with double-digit kills. Ada Bulgur and
Cortni Adams are close behind tallying 62. On the defensive side,
Kylah Hunter has produced a team-high 145 digs. Senior
Cortni Adams also has shined on the defensive end tallying 27 blocks.
UNCW is coached by Dottie Hampton who is in her fifth season with the Seahawks. UNCW has yet to have a conference win this season. The Seahawks enter the weekend with a 3-10 overall. UNCW leads the Pirates all-time with a 9-0 record.
The Seahawks have one of the best defensive players in the conference with Grace Melnick. Melnick is averaging 1.27 blocks per set which is the most in the CAA. The Snior from Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario has tallied 56 blocks this season. Against Northeastern Melnick recorded a season-high nine blocks.
