Hampton Volleyball Resumes Conference Play Against Towson

HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 18, 2024) … After a pause in the conference schedule, the Lady Pirates return to CAA play against Towson. Last season Hampton took a set from the Tigers. The two-game series begins on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 6:00 p.m. and ends on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 2:00 p.m. Both matches will be streamed on FloSports. 

In its last time out, Coach Ronaldo Pacheco's side fell to Norfolk State 3-1 inside Holland Hall. While Hampton fell on dropped the first set, the Lady Pirates took the second frame 25-23. HU would trail the Spartans early on. The Lady Pirates battled their way back to tie the stanza 22-22. Hampton tallied nine kills in the set and took advantage of 10 errors made by Norfolk State to take the second set 25-23.xt two sets to win the match. The Spartans would take the next two sets to win the match. Kylah Hunter finished the contest with a season-high 17 digs. 

Madison Clark leads the Lady Pirates in kills this season with 110 kills and is averaging 2.39 per set. Out of Hampton's freshman class, Brooklynn Patterson leads the way offensively with the fifth most kills (60) on the team. On the defensive side, Cotrni Adams leads the way for the Lady Pirates. The Aubrey, Texas native, has produced 33 blocks this season. 

Towson is coached by Don Metil who is in his 12th season with the program. Metil has been coaching at the collegiate level for 23 seasons. The Tigers enter the weekend with a 14-4 overall record and are 5-3 in conference play. In its last time out, Towson fell to Charleston 3-0 in game one and 3-2 in the second match.

Coach Metl's squad has been one the best serving teams in the country. The Tigers are averaging 1.81 aces per set which is the 40th most in the nation. Sydney Stewart has helped Twoson reach this mark producing a team-high 31 aces. Victoria Barrett is another strong offensive player for the Tigers. Barret ranks 32nd in the nation and second in the conference for kills with 279 this season.
