Lady Pirates Return to Action Inside Holland Hall Hosting Campbell

HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 23, 2024) …Hampton volleyball returns to Holland Hall hosting the Campbell Camels in a two-game series. During these two games, the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee is holding a food drive. Fans are encouraged to support the effort by donating canned goods, prepackaged foods, and personal items. Items that are donated can be dropped off at the entrance. Thursday's match on Oct. 23 is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. along with Friday's contest. 

In its last time out, Coach Ronaldo Pacheco's side fell to Towson 3-0 in both matches. In the first contest, Brooklynn Patterson led the way for the Lady Pirates. The Bowie, Md. native finished the game with a team-high four kills and an ace. In the second match against the Tigers, Ada Buldger was effective on both ends of the court. Bulger was three kills away from a double-double and had 10 digs. 

Since the start of Coastal Athletic Association play, Madison Clark has led Hampton in kills with 59. The senior from Hampton, Va. also leads Coach Pacheco's squad in aces with seven. On the defensive end, both Cortni Adams and Lyrique Alteus have led the way defensively for the Lady Pirates against conference opponents. Admas has recorded 15 blocks with Alteus close behind with 14. 

The Camels are coached by Greg Goral who is in his 12th  at the helm. So far this season Campbell has posted a 3-17 overall record and is 1-9 in the conference. CU's lone conference victory was against Elon back on Oct. 12.  The Camels took the Phoenix to five sets winning 3-2. Campbell took the first two sets but dropped the next two. CU took the match-winning frame 15-7. Gwen Wolkow let the match in kills with 14.

Throughout the 2024 campaign, Wolkow has been one of the Camel's top offensive players. The Downers Grove, Ill. native, has a team-high 152 kills and has been in double-figures seven times. Earlier this season the junior set a new career-high in kills against Hofstra tallying 23. Riley Dean has produced the 11th most digs in the CAA. Her 255 digs are also a team-high. In the match against Queens the San Diego, Calif native, recorded a career-high 25 digs.
