HAMPTON, Va. (September 16, 2024) – The Lady Pirates are preparing to visit HBCU rival Norfolk State on Tuesday evening at 6:00 p.m. in Gill Gymnasium. The Spartans will travel up to Hampton on October 16 at 6:00 p.m.
Hampton's volleyball squad is coming off three matches at the Henson Hawk Invitational. The team had losses against UNC Asheville, Iona, and UMES in a five-set thriller.
This season,
Madison Clark and
Ada Bulgur have the Lady Pirates' most kills with 52 and 51, respectively. Freshman
Morgan Warren has already recorded more set assists (160) than last year's leader,
Kalyn Pierre (146). Clark has notched 11 aces.
Libero
Kylah Hunter continues to lead Hampton in digs at 93.
Cortni Adams has provided 16 blocks.
Scouting Norfolk State (2-6)
Kathy Bullock is in her sixth season coaching the Spartans. She has led the team to back-to-back seasons with seven conference wins. The Spartans have wins over Gardener-Webb and Lamar.
Gabrielle Gilbert leads the Spartans in kills with 109 and aces at 14. Sydney McCree is the primary setter and has 244 assists. Defensively, the Spartans libero, Lily Rose-Pichon, has 102 digs and Adlene Jideofor has 20 blocks.
Hampton holds the advantage, 62-15 against Norfolk State all-time.
