HAMPTON, Va. (September 19, 2024) – The Lady Pirates volleyball team preparing to host their first home matches of the 2024 season. Two matches will take place against HBCU and Coastal Athletic Association opponent, North Carolina A&T.
Friday, September 20, 6 p.m. – Hampton vs. N.C. A&T
Saturday, September 21, 3 p.m. – Hampton vs. N.C. A&T
This will also be the first two conference games for both teams.
Last Match
Hampton fell to the Norfolk State Spartans on Tuesday evening by a score of 3-0.
Abena Asomani-Martin set a career-high eight kills for the Lady Pirates.
Morgan Warren notched 10 assists and teammate
Ida Wiszomirska earned nine assists. Asomani-Martin also posted an ace.
On the defensive side of the net, the Lady Pirates recorded more digs than Norfolk State (38-37). Libero
Kylah Hunter posted 10 digs and
Shachia Lamb tallied five blocks (two solo, three assist).
So Far This Season
Ada Bulgur leads the Lady Pirates in kills with 57, followed by teammate
Madison Clark at 52.
Morgan Warren has been the team's primary setter with 170 assists. Clark has notched 11 aces.
Defensively, Hunter leads the Lady Pirates in digs (103).
Cortni Adams and
Shachia Lamb each have 16 blocks.
Scouting the Aggies (5-3)
Hal Clifton is coaching the Aggies in his 14th year as the head coach. This season, North Carolina A&T has wins over North Carolina Central (twice), Western Carolina, Texas A&M Commerce, and Charleston Southern.
Tyne Ross has earned 124 kills for the Aggies through eight matches. Leonor Polezzi boasts 260 assists and has the most aces with 10.
On the defensive side of the court, Valeria Estrada tallies 79 digs and teammate Maya Johnson 21 blocks.
The Aggies hold the advantage in the series, 23-3.
