HAMPTON, Va. (Oct. 31, 2025) ... The 2025 Hampton University volleyball team travels to Northeastern for two conference matches this weekend in Boston, Mass. The Pirates enter the series after dropping two matches to league leading Towson.
The Pirates were led by
Katerina Pappa (12) and
Racquel Frazier (12) in the two matches, while
Jaya Rimm and
Kylah McNeal each added seven.
Morgan Warren led Hampton with 34 assists, and Rimm led the way with 12 digs.
Lillian Campbell continued to record blocks on the defensive side, tallying five solo.
The Huskies enter the weekend after dropping two matches to William & Mary. Northeastern holds a 3-7 record in league play with a win over Stony Brook and two Elon.
This weekend will be the first time the two schools meet in a volleyball match as the two scheduled in 2023 were canceled.
ABOUT HAMPTON
Morgan lead the Pirates with 358 assists on the season, best for tenth in the CAA. Hampton is led offensively by Frazier (178) and Pappa's (144) kills on the season. Campbell has recorded a team high 39.0 blocks on the year while 18 of them have been solo.
While Frazier and Pappa lead the Pirates in kills, Rimm (86) Campbell (66) and McNeal (60) have over 60. Pappa (118), Andrade (113), Warren (96), Rimm (96), Frazier (87),
Nia Thomas (60) and
Dila Derendeli (57) have all logged over 50 digs in 2025.
ABOUT NORTHEASTERN
The Huskies are led offensively by Emma Rowell (208), Svenja Rodenbuesch (162) and Valentina Meirelles (150) who have all recorded over 150 kills. Sofia King is eighth in the conference with 158 assists and Nandia Koanui ranks fourth with 338 digs.
Koanui earned CAA Defensive Player of the Week after the first week of the season when she recorded 49 digs. Brendan McGourn is in his first season at the helm of the Huskies, after serving as an assistant coach last season at Fairfield.
SECOND YEAR LEAP
While the Pirates 2025 roster is seemingly all new, the four returners of
Maria Clara Andrade,
Ida Wiszomirska,
Morgan Warren and
Dila Derendeli have all shown improvement in year two. Andrade has already recorded 113 digs on the season after just 81 as a freshman, Warren has assisted on 358 of the Pirates points this season after just 285 a year ago, Wiszomirska is on pace to top her 184 assists as a freshman and Derendeli is on pace to record more digs this season than last years 66.
WORLD WIDE PIRATES
The Pirates have quite the variety of areas and regions on its 2025 roster. Four players are from overseas, while 11 players represent six states. Overseas Pirates hail from Turkey, Greece, Poland and Brazil, while the states of Maryland, Georgia, New Jersey, Texas, Ohio, South Carolina and Virginia are also represented.
